Brisbane Clubs Build Community Through Upgraded Sports Facilities
New venues such as the National Rugby Training Centre and other precinct upgrades support local clubs in daily operations and community programs.
How we reported this

The National Rugby Training Centre at Ballymore opened in June after a $31.5 million investment, providing Brisbane Roar FC with its new full-time training base for the men's A-League squad.
Ballymore as a Club Training Hub
Brisbane Roar FC has moved its men's A-League operations to the Ballymore site, which now serves as a dedicated space for elite rugby and women's rectangular sports. This relocation allows the club to conduct regular training sessions on upgraded fields while sharing the venue with other rectangular sports groups.
Logan and Chandler Upgrades Support Broader Access
Demolition has started at the Logan PCYC site south of Brisbane to make way for a new 7,000-seat indoor sports centre tied to 2032 Olympic and Paralympic planning. At the same time the Chandler Sport Precinct is receiving a $257 million joint Australian and Queensland Government upgrade to facilities first built for the 1982 Commonwealth Games. These projects give clubs additional indoor and multi-use spaces for training and events.
CBD Courts Add Everyday Options
Mirvac and Suncorp completed the HL Court at Roma and Turbot Streets in Brisbane CBD after a $1.5 million investment that turned an underpass area into public sport courts. Clubs and community groups can now schedule sessions in the central location without travelling to outer venues.
These facilities give clubs fixed locations for consistent training schedules and shared use arrangements that connect players, coaches and local participants. Brisbane Roar FC's move to Ballymore illustrates how one club integrates into a larger venue that also hosts women's rectangular sports programs.
Clubs can apply for access through the venue operators at Ballymore, the Logan PCYC redevelopment team, Chandler Sport Precinct management and the HL Court booking system. Updated schedules and allocation processes will be published by each facility as works progress.
