The surge comes as Queensland government data shows startup registrations in the greater Brisbane area rose 22 percent in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year. Founders cite rising interest in practical AI applications and a shortage of local networking options outside major conferences.
Venues and programs drawing crowds
Organisers booked the main auditorium at The Edge for the July 15 session, which will run from 6 pm to 9 pm and include lightning talks on open-source models. A second event on July 22 will shift to a smaller room at Brisbane Powerhouse in Newstead, where the focus turns to hardware prototypes and supply-chain questions. Both locations sit within easy reach of the CBD via the CityCat ferry or the new Cross River Rail link.
Startup Brisbane, the city-backed program launched in 2024, lists both events on its calendar and offers discounted tickets to members. The group also runs a monthly founders circle at the Queensland Technology Park in Eight Mile Plains, where attendance has climbed from 45 people in January to 95 in June.
Numbers and next steps
Ticket prices sit at $20 for general admission and $12 for students, with sales tracked through Eventbrite. Last month’s comparable session at the same South Bank venue sold out 48 hours before doors opened, according to the platform’s public dashboard. July 15 registration opened on July 5 and passed the 150 mark within four days.
Anyone planning to attend should register online before July 13 to secure a seat and receive the venue access code. The Brisbane Innovation Office on Adelaide Street also keeps printed schedules for walk-ins who prefer not to use apps.
